JAZZ: Jazz is a stylistic, energetic form of dance. Its roots come from ballet and modern dance technique. Dancers develop flexibility and muscle strength. Jazz incorporates ballet technique and helps to develop a strong jazz foundation. Jazz classes include a technical warm up and stretch, jumps and turns across the floor and a combination that is a musical theatre style or a contemporary style.
TAP: Tap shoes with a thick metal on the bottom are used to make unique sounds. Tap requires a great deal of coordination and can be a challenging style of dance. Students learn tap terminology and apply rhythm and timing into a tap routine. All levels will emphasize clarity of rhythm and sound and the development of style through the use of the whole body.
BALLET: Our professional ballet program is a Russian style of ballet. Our faculty concentrates on the Royal Academy technique. Ballet class begins with barre work. Dancers go onto center floor work, adagio, allegro, progressions and character dance (depending on the level). Dancers develop grace and poise. Terminology and proper technical execution are the primary goals for proper ballet training. Ballet is the foundation to all forms of dance and is recommended for all serious dancers.
JAZZ/HIP HOP: This program allows students to take the two most popular forms of dance in one class. The jazz/hip hop class teaches fundamental jazz steps and combines the elements of hip hop moves and contemporary music. We have found that the combination of jazz and hip hop is ideal for younger ages. Students learn the necessary elements of jazz which are crucial to the success in hip hop, but also get to learn hip hop moves which require the coordination and balance learned from jazz.
HIP HOP: Join in for the latest dance moves and catch the dance fever in this high-energy class. Time is spent on strength and conditioning and more in-depth combinations to various hip-hop styles. Previous experience recommended but not necessary.
KICKLINE/PRO DANCE TEAM: Encompasses a number of dance styles including pom, pom, lyrical, jazz, high-kicks and hip-hop. Dancers learn tricks, turns, and tight formations required for kickline teams. The dancers will use pom poms, and wear brightly colored uniforms for a high energy effect. It may look fresh and funky, but these styles actually have their roots in ballet and other traditional forms of dance. This class is perfect for dancers preparing to try out for a school team or a professional dance team. This class is taught by an instructor currently on a professional dance team.
LYRICAL/CONTEMPOARARY: Lyrical dance is a beautiful blend of ballet and jazz dance where students create a story or express the mood of the music and lyrics. Contemporary is a form of dance that involves modern dance elements and classical ballet elements. *Dancers must take ballet. Strong technical foundation is required.
MUSICAL THEATRE: Sing, dance and act to Broadway's favorite shows. Our musical theatre program teaches stage dance and includes a voice component. Basic jazz technique is combined with stage direction, acting and singing. The musical theatre classes are open to students ages 6-adult. The class combinations are Broadway musicals with jazz dance and singing.
TECHNIQUE/JUMPS AND TURNS: This class was created for dancers that want to define their technique, turns, jumps and tricks. Dancers work on stretching and strengthening exercises. Turning and jumping progressions are done across the floor.
ACROBATICS/GYMNASTICS: Our fun, action-filled classes concentrate on strength, flexibility, balance and tumbling techniques. Your child will use professional equipment to work on their acro and tumbling skills including cartwheels, forward rolls, walkovers, handsprings, aerials, and more!
Aerial Silks: Aerial silks is a type of acrobatic performance where artists use long fabric suspended from the ceiling to perform climbs, wraps, drops, and poses. Dancers rely on their strength, flexibility, and coordination to create graceful and visually stunning movements while suspended in the air. It's both an art form and a demanding workout that builds core strength, endurance, and balance.
